12 - 18 Christian Aid Week

It’s Christian Aid, so it must be May! which incorporates Christian Aid Week, 12th - 18th May, when door to door collections are licensed, although we do not do this in Bratton. Instead, we collect money in the Pot at St. James's throughout May. Christian Aid operates in 31 countries, mainly in the Middle East, the Caribbean, Africa including South Sudan which we are supporting in April, and Latin America. It aims to fight poverty and injustice and to promote peace in the troubled countries in which it operates, through crisis relief, where it is needed, followed by longer term projects to help prevent problems in the future, where that is possible. They work closely with other aid agencies to bring the best possible help they can to the people in the areas in which they operate. They are excluded from some Muslim countries, but send help to agencies who do have access, and the charity is active in some refugee camps, for example in Lebanon. Please support this active & effective body of people by putting a donation into the Pot. Our other collections continue: plastic milk bottle tops for ophthalmic research at Southampton University and dog food for Labrador Rescue in Bratton - Rosemary Osborne
